Exclusive Interview With Fujimoto Highlights His Desire For Singular Focus

Chainsaw Man Creator Tatsuki Fujimoto Dreams of Emulating Aka Akasaka, Writing Only One Series

Exclusive Interview with Fujimoto Highlights His Desire for Singular Focus

In an exclusive interview, manga creator Tatsuki Fujimoto, known for his groundbreaking work Chainsaw Man, opened up about his aspirations to follow in the footsteps of Aka Akasaka, creator of the popular rom-com Kaguya-sama: Love Is War.

Fujimoto's Singular Vision

Fujimoto expressed his admiration for Akasaka's ability to maintain a singular focus on his flagship series, which has been consistently successful in both Japan and internationally. He revealed that he too harbors a desire to dedicate himself entirely to one work, believing it would allow him to explore its depths more fully.

"I've always been fascinated by Aka-sensei's ability to create such a long-running and beloved series while maintaining its freshness and quality," Fujimoto commented. "I aspire to do the same with Chainsaw Man."

Challenges and Charms of Adapting Chainsaw Man

The interview also featured insights from Shingo Abe, CEO and executive producer of Studio MAPPA, which is currently adapting Chainsaw Man into an anime series. Abe discussed the challenges and unique opportunities of bringing Fujimoto's work to life on the screen.

"Chainsaw Man is a highly visual and complex manga, so adapting it has presented us with a number of technical hurdles," Abe explained. "However, it's also an incredibly exciting project that allows us to showcase the incredible creativity of Fujimoto-sensei."

The full interview with Tatsuki Fujimoto and Shingo Abe will be available in the upcoming issue of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Readers can look forward to gaining further insights into the creator's vision for Chainsaw Man and the challenges of adapting its unique world to anime.
